Where will the tour start and finish?
I often arrange to meet in the centre of town, but if you’d prefer I can meet you at your accommodation and walk with you into town. This time would be incorporated into the tour. The tour finishes in town –which is only small - and I will always make sure you know where you are and help you get to where you next want to go.
How do I pay for my tour?
Your tour needs to be paid for two weeks in advance, via bank transfer. I’ll send you the details in an email when you book. For international visitors I find it's easiest to pay in cash on the day.
Can children come on the tour?
Of course! Anyone under the age of 18 just needs to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
I have limited mobility. Can I still go on a tour?
Certainly. Just let me know in advance what your capabilities are and I will modify the tour accordingly.
There’s something I particularly want to see, or learn about while I’m in Cambridge.
Can that be incorporated into the tour?
If you have a special interest, let me know, and I’ll do my best to integrate it into your tour.
Are there any toilet breaks during the tour?
Cambridge has lots of beautiful sights but sadly not enough public toilets! What were those medieval town planners thinking? We don’t stop during the tour, but as we go around, do let me know if you need a break and I’ll direct you to a suitable place.
How do I arrange a visit to one of the Cambridge colleges?
The colleges are often open to visitors, so we may be able to organise a visit in advance. Many of the colleges charge for admission, and this will be in addition to the price of the tour. During exam time (around May) and for special occasions, the colleges usually close – sometimes with little or no notice. If we’ve organised a visit to a college and it closes on the day of your tour, I’ll do my best to arrange a visit to another college.
Is photography permitted within the colleges?
Yes it is, but within college buildings that we may visit, it's requested that you don't use a flash, or take video.
Do you have insurance?
All of the Cambridge badged guides have Public Liability insurance, arranged through the Society of Cambridge Tourist Guides.
What if I need to cancel my booking?
If you need to cancel your booking, and do so with 3 days’ notice (72 hours), you’ll get a full refund of the price of the tour, minus any transaction fees and/or any non-refundable college ticket fees. If you want to re-schedule, I’ll do my very best to accommodate you.
Can you take tours in other languages?
All my tours are in English. I also speak fluent Australian, plus I am slowly learning German and at this rate will be ready to guide in that language in about 70 years. I can however provide you with the details of highly recommended badged guides who speak fluent French, German, Russian, Italian, Spanish or Mandarin.
What’s the weather like in Cambridge?
Changeable! My tours go ahead rain or shine so check the weather in the morning and come dressed accordingly. It’s always good to wear some layers in the UK, so you can take them off if necessary, then put them all back on again five minutes later.
